Microsoft was among the early investors in OpenAI's ChatGPT, and now, the company is integrating its services into a number of its products. Now, Bing Chat desktop is reportedly getting a huge update regarding support for image recognition, or OCR.

OpenAI ChatGPT Integration Extends to Bing Chat as Part of Company's Way to Roll Out Extended AI Capabilities 

According to the story by Windows Latest, the feature reportedly integrates OpenAI's ChatGPT-4 vision model. This is to detect and understand objects within a certain image and supply a detailed explanation regarding the image through real-life examples.

I was also recently reported that Microsoft was rolling the new Bing Chat feature to users worldwide, and not limited to the US. Once the update rolls out, users will be able to notice a new option found beside the voice icon.

Bing Chat Can be Used for 'Image recognition' Feature to Get Explanations or Descriptions

The option reportedly lets users upload images directly to chat. This would also allow users to paste images from the internet and request that Bing give an explanation or description of the given images.

The feature will be known as "image recognition," and as of press time, it was noted that only a certain amount of users will be able to access it. The report by Windows Latest notes that this could mean that the access remains a random A/B testing.

New Bing Version Rolled Out to Less than 10% of Users

Microsoft released an official statement where it confirmed the rolling out of the new Bing Vision feature to less than 10% of users. The company expects the Bing Vision option to be available for all users in a matter of time.

It was also reported that Microsoft shortly tested out Bing Support for the Chrome and Safari browser in May. However, more formal announcements are expected to come soon regarding the confirmation of its expansion.

Bard and AI Provide Easy Access, Needing No More User Agents Modification

Although it is possible to operate Bing Chat in Chrome through user agents modifications, it was noted that this would become unnecessary. This was because Bard, along with other AI chatbots, were already very easy to access.

It was also recently reported that Microsoft is trying to improve its Bing Image Creator through the use of its AI. This comes on top of Chrome and Safari support as the feature was noted to likely improve with the integration of Bing plugin.

Large-Scale Plugin Rollout Could Happen in the Future

The report also specified how it was suggested that Microsoft could be planning a "large-scale plugin rollout" to be able to expand Bing chat capabilities. So far, the company has already made multiple Bing Chat improvements, like removing Microsoft accounts support.

Previously, the feature was only accessible to users that reportedly had a Microsoft Account but has now been rolled out to other users through the adoption of Bing AI on Microsoft Edge. An article by ZDnet explained further the definition and capabilities of Bing Chat.
