"CROSSPLAY IS COMING TO 2K!" said a teen on the latest promo video of NBA 2K that officially announced that the upcoming basketball game NBA 2K24 is featuring a cross-platform play. This latest development was years in the making.

Gamers and fans have all requested an interconnected experience regardless of the console or platform. However, there is a catch to the crossplay since it will not be available to all platforms 2K Sports will be releasing the new sports game.

NBA 2K24 Is Now Available on Crossplay for PS5, Xbox Series S and X

2K Sports announced via its Twitter page that NBA 2K24 is offering a new experience for gamers, and this is finally the arrival of crossplay for the game's console version. 

The catch is that gamers need to own the latest consoles, either the PlayStation 5's Digital or Disc version or the Xbox Series S and X, to experience this game.

While it would be available to other platforms like the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and the Nintendo Switch, these would not allow cross-platform play.

This remains an important development for the upcoming 2K24 game from 2K Sports, especially since it would allow an interconnected experience for gamers on the console to enjoy online matches or leagues on different platforms.

NBA 2K24 is Now Available for Pre-order: Release Date?

Amidst the massive celebration of NBA 2K24's new crossplay feature, pre-orders for the new NBA-themed game are now open.

There is a special offer for all who will pre-order the game from July 7 to July 17 for the NBA 2K24 25th Anniversary Edition, with 2K Sports offering digital bonus content, including 90-rated Victor Wembanyama Free Agent Card, Ruby Devin Booker, and a MyPLAYER Wemby Jersey.

These bonuses are additional freebies, joining the special offers of the 25th Anniversary Edition. NBA 2K24 is set for release on September 8 for PlayStation, Switch, Xbox, and PC platforms. 

NBA 2K Pays Homage to Kobe Bryant

The latest NBA 2K24 game features the most famous player sporting the number 24 in the Los Angeles Lakers, Kobe Bryant, in commemoration of his legacy befitting his massive career. 

However, this was not the first time that Bryant was honored by the game as back in 2016, the NBA 2K17 Legendary Edition was attributed to him amidst his retirement.

Another special edition was released in honor of The Black Mamba's influence on basketball, and this was after the sad news of his and his daughter Gigi Bryant's death in 2020. 

The developers of 2K released an NBA 2K21 "Mamba Forever Edition," which features the iconic Kobe Bryant Digital Collection alongside other features from the bundle. 2K Sports is again paying tribute to the late Kobe Bryant, who the world lost in 2020 due to a horrific helicopter crash.

Three editions are now available for pre-order for the different gaming platforms, but crossplay is only available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S&X.
