The Supergirl TV series is well underway as Warner Bros. and CBS have found the actor to play James Olsen. The actor who will jump right into the role is no other than Mehcad Brooks, a man who is mainly known for his work on True Blood.

We understand that James Olsen will be a different take on the comic-book character, Jimmy Olsen. Instead of working at the Daily Planet, this Olsen works at a company called CatCo alongside Kara Zor-El. He could be a potential love interest for Supergirl, though we can only hope the emotional aspect of the show doesn't mimic the feel of shows on The CW.

We are skeptical about Mehcad Brooks taking on the role of James Olsen, and we can only hope he does a splendid job. Furthermore, we are not big fans of Melissa Benoist of Supergirl, or the plan to give the character her own series.

While the Supergirl character is well-known, she doesn't have a deep backstory when compared to other heroes DC could have used. Additionally, the Supergirl character is almost as powerful as Superman and she possesses the same abilities, so it should be interesting to see if her immense powers can be realized on the small screen.

Chances are, the writers will play the card about Kara wanting to keep herself a secret from the world, so viewers will likely rarely get the chance to see her full power in action. A hero like The Flash is easier to put on the big screen because he's all speed; Supergirl is more than that.

Supergirl TV series description:

"Born on the planet Krypton, Kara Zor-El escaped amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she's been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be."

The first episode is expected to air on CBS before the beginning of next year. Time will tell if this show will go on to earn the rights to a second season, or if it is already dead in the water.
