Massive announcements were shared by the internet company in the latest Made by Google event, ushering in the new premium smartphone, the Pixel 8 Pro. All the kinks and nifty features were revealed, centering on its latest Tensor G3 processor, the most powerful chipset from the company now, but how does it fare with last year's Pixel 7 Pro?

Some of the more notable features of the Pixel 8 Pro are its brighter screens that are visible under direct sunlight, better cameras, and Google's AI presence.

Pixel 8 Pro is the present flagship smartphone of Google, and it is filled with many features and tech that could confuse users if they are planning to upgrade to one. First off, the Tensor G3 processor is the most advanced chipset in a Pixel device now, with Google claiming that this is the most powerful yet, but actual tests are to determine it.

Next, Google said that it upgraded the cameras, and while it retains almost the same megapixels as the previous one with 50 MP (wide) and 48 MP (telephoto), its ultrawide lens got a 48 MP upgrade from 12 MP on the Pixel 7 Pro. Its front cameras now have autofocus features, and its cameras are powered by Google's generative AI.

It now comes with Android 14 out of the box, and what is even more iconic is Google's promise of seven years of OS updates for the smartphone series (both base and Pro variants).

The Pixel 8 Pro also sees a slight battery capacity improvement, now featuring a 5,050 mAh power cell from the 7 Pro's 5,000 mAh.

However, it still keeps the same storage and memory options as the 8 Pro, all having 12GB of RAM, with 128, 256, 512 GB, and 1TB option.

Is the Pixel 8 Pro Worth It?

The Pixel 8 Pro is a worthy upgrade if you are coming from older devices like the Pixel 6 Pro and earlier, but not much has changed from the 7 Pro unless you want the AI features and longer OS support. It is important to note that it is $100 more expensive now, starting at $999 for the 12GB RAM and 128GB ROM.

The Made by Google event came and went, leaving users with many things to digest from what the Mountain View tech giant has to offer, centering on its consumer tech made available to many.

From generative AI to improvements to the new Pixel 8's camera using the technology, Google is incorporating its strongest suit and focus on the smartphone series, also leveraging its apps.

Pixel 8 is the latest of what Google has to offer, promising massive support to the smartphone with its Android OS updates, alongside software improvements, and a stronger AI presence to the device.
