The highly-renowned game "God of War: Ragnarok" was considered the final of its series, but an insider has teased that a follow-up or a sequel is already under development.

Sony Santa Monica is best known for the development of this 2022 game, centering on the revamp of the series, which will see Kratos' final adventure in an environment based on Norse mythology.

'God of War: Ragnarok' Sequel Teased by Insider

ViewerAnon, an X user, shared new information that claimed that "God of War: Ragnarok" will have a sequel that will continue the game's story that was supposed to end in last year's release.

The leaker further noted that Sony Santa Monica is working on it now. The insider is best known and renowned in the gaming industry for his previous claims about the studio's works.

The insider claimed this was more than a DLC and called it a "half-sequel" that would deliver a game from the same series to continue and expand the previous one.

At present, it is still not known what the God of War: Ragnarok's sequel will bring - if it focuses more on Kratos or Atreus and will still venture in an environment based on Norse mythology.

Half-Sequel for Ragnarok: What Is That?

Ragnarok's half-sequel speculation has surfaced because of a post from IGN saying that "half-sequels" are the future of gaming. In between developments, there were games that studios brought to users, called half-sequels, which bring a smaller version of the game but use the same tools and resources as the main one.

While it is similar to DLCs, it is more of a "glorified DLC," which expands more of the game compared to a regular expansion. ViewerAnon affirmed that Ragnarok will soon receive a half-sequel from Sony Sta. Monica, but the details are still scarce.

'God of War: Ragnarok'

In November 2022, Sony Santa Monica gave the world the definitive sequel to the 2018 "God of War," offering players the end to Kratos and Atreus' story as they venture into other ancient mythology after Greece.

It was made available to the PS4 and PS5. Sony Santa Monica previously revealed that the "God of War" 2018 release is not set to be a trilogy, claiming that Ragnarok is set to be the last of this particular series.

However, it does not mean an end to the franchise. The team also claimed that Ragnarok could have been game number two and another game to be the third to complete a trilogy, but they decided not to expand more of its story.

There were earlier rumors which claimed that Sony and its Sony Sta. Monica Studio plans to create a sequel to the game, and many fans were delighted at the news of another God of War game. Now, another rumor surfaced, corroborating the claims, with "God of War: Ragnarok" getting a half-sequel.
