New speculation has emerged on the "God of War" franchise's future game release, centering on "Ragnarok" getting a sequel from the company based on current job listings over at Sony Santa Monica.

It is widely known that Sony Santa Monica is the company's subsidiary that exclusively develops the "God of War" franchise, with its production and resources allotted for the game.

Last year, "God of War: Ragnarok" was released by Sony exclusively for the PlayStation, giving gamers the sequel game to the original revamp of the series.

'God of War: Ragnarok' Is Allegedly Getting a Sequel

ComicBook Gaming reported that a possible God of War sequel is coming, and this is because of Sony Santa Monica's recent job listings that talked about the two initial games only.

The report also included that it is presumably meant for the PlayStation 5, but it may also appear for the possible future version of the console, the PS6. Considering that the PS6 was mentioned, this game may arrive in the coming years, not immediately.

It is widely known that "God of War: Ragnarok" was a massive success for Sony and the PS5, delivering yet another franchise masterpiece despite its flaws and issues.

Sony Santa Monica's Job Listings for God of War

Sony Santa Monica's Careers website has many listings that link to God of War's future games development, with ComicBook Gaming reporting that this is under production already.

The listings mentioned that those who will join should be familiar with both "God of War" (2018) and "God of War: Ragnarok" (2022), specifying both games only. There are 10 God of War games, with the initial trilogy centering on Kratos' journey in ancient Greece.

The 'God of War' Franchise From Sony

Before "God of War: Ragnarok" was released last year, a report behind the game's development tackled whether this was supposedly the series' last game

That was because it was titled "Ragnarok," also known as the end of Asgard in Norse mythology, where all its gods, deities, humans, and their worlds would perish from existence. The developers were supposedly developing a trilogy but opted not to prolong the storyline and packed it all in this release.

The massive success of "Ragnarok" and the original plain-titled "God of War" from 2018 has invited both the old and young generations to play as Kratos again, with this revamp regarded as a significant development from Sony Santa Monica.

It was previously established that "Ragnarok" was the last game of the series, but this revamp may focus on other aspects of the game, including the solo journey of Atreus as he finds himself and restore the giants.

Still, not much is known about what the next "God of War" game would deliver to the world, especially as "Ragnarok" gave the world a significant possible ending to the series or franchise.
