Porsche's expertise in road vehicle drive technology has been adapted and refined for aquatic application in the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air.

It incorporates elements of the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) that underpins the upcoming Macan, including a cutting-edge permanently excited synchronous electric motor (PSM) limited to 400 kW for the eFantom.

A shaft connects the motor to the distinctive marine Z-drive, with controls in a waterproof unit featuring the Porsche emblem. The lithium-ion battery, borrowed from the Macan, with a gross capacity of 100 kWh, is positioned beneath the rear lounge area.

To ensure smooth navigation, Porsche opted for wire rope mounts for the suspension in the support frame. Like those in Porsche's on-road vehicles, driving modes are available for tailored drive characteristics.

The eFantom offers Docking, Range, Sport, and Sport Plus settings, each altering throttle response and setting different speed limits to suit various scenarios. The boat's optimal cruising speed is 41 km/h, offering approximately one hour of cruising or around 45 kilometers on a single charge.

The eFantom can cover over 100 kilometers at hull speed. It reaches a top speed of 85 km/h in Sport Plus mode. Depending on the driving profile, typical customer journeys with a mix of speeds allow for trips lasting two to three hours.

800-Volt Technology of Porsche

With Porsche's 800-volt technology, the eFantom can be charged with over 250 kW of DC power at fast-charging stations, offering rapid charging times.

Frauscher and Porsche's experts anticipate that AC charging at household and high-voltage outlets will be the most common charging method, given its widespread availability. The boat comes equipped with an 11-kW AC charger as standard.

Designed by Studio F. A. Porsche, the helmstand features a high-gloss black instrument panel and tinted acrylic glass windscreen, paying homage to the 911.

Also designed by Studio F. A. Porsche, the two front seats provide ample lateral support in line with the boat's high-performance nature. Based on the Frauscher 858 Fantom Air day cruiser, the eFantom maintains its original dimensions, accommodating up to nine passengers.

The rear swimming platform leads to a spacious lounge area with sunbathing pads connected to the helm and cockpit via a central aisle. Two additional upholstered benches in the front end also offer further relaxation spots.

The boat can be extensively customized with a wide range of colors for the upholstery, hull, and deck. The eFantom will debut officially in January 2024 at the "boot" trade fair in Düsseldorf, with an initial limited edition of 25 units available for order from Frauscher.

Prices start at €561,700 ($596,100) net, with deliveries slated for 2024. Production will take place at the Frauscher Shipyard in Ohlsdorf, Austria, with Frauscher overseeing sales logistics and after-sales management.

"This boat is the result of a great collaboration between two passionate companies with a strong tradition and a high standard of innovation," said Detlev von Platen, a member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG.
