Automattic, the parent company of popular platforms like WordPress and Tumblr, has strategically acquired Texts.com, an all-in-one messaging platform, for an estimated $50 million.

This acquisition represents Automattic's foray into the messaging sphere, a domain considered crucial in the modern digital landscape.

"Texts.com brings all your chats into a single dashboard: iMessage, Slack, WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, Messenger, LinkedIn, Signal, Discord, and X, with more services on the way," the company said in a press release.

How Texts.com Works

Texts.com is an app for all your messaging apps. It addresses a prevalent challenge faced by users in the digital age - the fragmentation of conversations across various messaging applications.

With the proliferation of platforms like iMessage, Slack, WhatsApp, and others, individuals often find themselves navigating a complex web of applications to locate specific chat threads.

Texts.com aims to simplify this experience by offering a consolidated dashboard that unifies messages from diverse platforms, creating a seamless communication hub.

What sets Texts.com apart are its advanced features designed to enhance user experience. The platform employs end-to-end encryption, providing a layer of security for user communications.

It also introduces innovative functionalities such as the ability to schedule messages for optimal delivery times and the option to mark messages as unread- an attribute not universally available in all messaging applications.

The platform also offers a range of keyboard shortcuts, customizable interfaces, and group chat summaries for efficient message management.

Kishan Bagaria, the founder of Texts.com, has assumed the role of Head of Messaging at Automattic, signaling a smooth transition of the company into the Automattic ecosystem.

The entire Texts.com team, known for its distributed work model, remains integral to the acquisition and is actively adapting the desktop application for mobile platforms.
