It was recorded during its launch late last week and over the weekend, with its developer Epic Games also boasting a new record play hours from fans and enthusiasts of the franchise.

This Fortnite release is one of the most successful of the company, with its glorious Chapter 1 Season 5 map seeing a modern comeback, now available in the epic battle royale game.

Fortnite: OG Sees 44.7M Players, New Record Play Hours Too

The latest report from Fortnite via X celebrates a massive event for the company as it brings back the Chapter 1 map for its latest content, boasting 44.7 million players re-experiencing the nostalgia from 2018. 

It said that it is "blown away" by the gaming community's response to the return of its classic map, better known as the #FortniteOG.

Apart from the massive player count, Fortnite also boasts 102 million hours of play since the original map was released late last week, accumulating the numbers over the weekend.

Fortnite expressed gratitude to the gamers and fans who made these new records possible, especially for patronizing the classic map.

Fortnite's Chapter 4 Season 5, a.k.a. the OG, Is a Success

Fortnite's Chapter 4 Season 5 (the current release) incorporates the nostalgic Chapter 1 Season 5 map, encapsulating its classic era during its maiden year, with this OG map regarded as a success. 

The good thing and what gamers found enjoyable is that while it brings back the OG, it still features the modern features from the games, including Sprinting features and more that were introduced along the way.

Epic Games Massive Fortnite Releases

It is no surprise that Fortnite is seeing significant buzz and excitement worldwide. That is because of its massive offers to gamers and fans, centering on renowned collaborations from famed franchises. 

Among the largest in its release was the Marvel x Fortnite collaboration from last Chapter 2 Season 4, known as the Nexus War event that included famed heroes and villains from the comic franchise.

There is also Epic Games' massive partnership with Shonen Jump, the popular Japanese anime studio known for its various manga adaptations that shaped the industry in the world. 

Its collaborations include Naruto ShippudenDragon BallMy Hero Academia, and Jujutsu Kaisen, offering its global gamers a taste of Japan's famed anime characters.

It also featured DC and other renowned franchises in pop culture to grace the battle royale platform, offering a significant outing for many characters in the Justice League and more. 

While Fortnite is known for its collaborations, the original content that it brings is pretty popular as well, with the OG map's return achieving record-breaking numbers.
