While 2023 was the year AI has ramped up its access for all, there are claims that 2024 will be an even bigger year for tech and its developments. With that, reports are also circulating regarding Google's plans for its future release of the Gemini AI, its next-gen AI model which it previously teased earlier this year.

It is important to note that Gemini AI was regarded before as a foundational model, a development by companies that helps deliver multimodal capabilities.

According to the latest report of The Information, Google is planning to release the anticipated Gemini AI next year, with 2024 first seeing the company's development of its upcoming foundational model. This follows the recent cancelation of the launch events and schedules meant for Gemini, originally meant for the second week of December 2023.

The report also claims that Google's Gemini was "struggling with non-English queries," hence this delay in its supposed release, straight from CEO Sundar Pichai.

Google's Gemini AI is expected to improve its current tech further, including the likes of the AI chatbot, Bard, Google Assistant, and Search.

Gemini AI vs. OpenAI's GPT-4

Earlier this May, Google introduced Gemini AI to the world via the I/O 2023 showcase, and here, the company regarded that it will go alongside the PaLM 2, with both foundational models seeing advancements. As per Google, this already offers multimodal capabilities unseen in previous models.

Gemini was created from the ground up to be multimodal, highly efficient at tool and API integrations and built to enable future innovations, like memory and planning.

Google's AI Development

The face of Google's AI centers on Bard, the renowned chatbot that it introduced early this year, but it previously faced criticism for its AI hallucinations in its initial release. However, Google developed the chatbot to bring better answers and information to users, centering on accurate data it presents, with Bard now able to access YouTube videos and answer your bugging questions.

It is also known that Google's previous acquisition, DeepMind, has also been in full swing to develop new AI projects and ventures, set to bring improvements to what the company has to offer. Previously, it created the so-called "Student of Games," and its main goal is to beat human players in various titles, showing the power of the computer models in gaming.

AI is expected to grow more in the future as we are only seeing the peak or surface of what it has to offer, being in its early stages in the present. That being said, Gemini AI is the perfect representation of Google's future goals and plans for AI, with reports now claiming that it will debut in 2024, and it is looking to take on the renowned OpenAI GPT-4 to further enhance what it has to offer.
