The recent acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft did not indicate any signs of layoffs, but the latest news now shares executives relieving themselves of their posts, with CEO Bobby Kotick officially resigning soon. Other executives will be following in the footsteps of Kotick in the coming weeks and months, with Microsoft's restructuring of the gaming company.

For the longest time, also through thick and thin, Bobby Kotick led Activision Blizzard, until their controversial acquisition by the software company.

The latest release from Activision Blizzard sees a letter from Bobby Kotick which confirms his resignation from his role as Activision Blizzard King's CEO, and this is after 32 years since his first assumption of the role. Come December 29, 2023, Kotick would no longer be reporting as ABK's CEO, and he would no longer be affiliated with the company and Microsoft.

In his letter, he commended Xbox's Phil Spencer for his appreciation of ABK, claiming that he is leaving it in good hands.

"Phil shares our values and recognizes our talents. He is passionate about our games and the people who make them. He has bold ambition," said Kotick.

As we move into our next exciting chapter, you could not be in better hands.

I will always be profoundly grateful to the people who contributed tirelessly to building this company and I am confident you will keep inspiring joy and uniting people through the power of play.

Microsoft's Restructuring: Activision Blizzard Execs Leave

Since 1991, Kotick has led Activision Blizzard through everything it has experienced.

That being said, the time is up for him, amid Microsoft's restructuring, and according to Engadget, he will be joined by other executives who will leave this December, with some in January, and others by March.

Activision Blizzard and Microsoft's Plans in the Future

While there is no denying that Activision Blizzard will bring a lot of growth for Microsoft and Xbox for its titles alone, the company is not setup to be the main source of revenue of the Big Tech. It previously revealed that Xbox will focus on a new gaming leg that will center on mobile and ads, stating that this same plan worked wonders for Activision Blizzard King before.

Additionally, it was revealed by Xbox's big boss, Phil Spencer, that Microsoft is not jumping the gun in its recent acquisition of the renowned gaming company for now. That being said, the Xbox Game Pass offers this year would not feature Activision Blizzard King titles this year, but this does not close the possibility of seeing it in the service for future integrations.

Now that Microsoft owns Activision Blizzard after the controversial acquisition that saw a massive delay in its approval, Big Tech could now do what it sees fit for the company. While it was not revealed if this was part of Microsoft's restructuring for the company, ABK's top executive is stepping down, and Kotick would soon be joined by other officials leaving it to other's hands.
