Previously known as Project L, Riot Games' take on an arcade-fighting game based on its famed MOBA, League of Legends, is now called the 2XKO. In this game, characters from the famous online game will match up against each other in a new arena experience, featuring similarities to the likes of famous arcade fighting games like Bandai Namco's Tekken.

For now, Riot's new game still does not have further details on what to expect from it, but with the latest trailer and early testing with gamers, 2XKO may be right around the corner.

Riot's Project L is now 2XKO, Officially Unveiled by the Company

It is not "two-times K.O," rather, read as it is spelled said Riot Games when they unveiled the new name for its renowned Project L, now known as 2XKO. This is the same game that they first introduced in 2021, now bringing a teaser on what to expect from the title, showcasing more of its fighting action experience that it will debut soon to the world.

Riot did not reveal any further details for 2XKO but showed snippets of the fights with selected League Champions like Ahri, Darius, Ekko, and Yasuo.

This new announcement still gives a grasp on what to expect from the fighting game, showing off its arcade-style experience akin to the likes of Marvel vs. Capcom, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Super Smash Bros., and more.

League of Legends' Arcade-Style Fighting Game: What to Expect

One of the main features introduced in the latest teaser of 2XKO was how it will feature two Champions to team up and fight against the opposing player's team, similar to Marvel vs. Capcom, Super Smash Bros., and SNK's King of Fighters.

2XKO would be available on the PS5, Xbox Series S and X, and the PC come 2025.

Riot also announced the playtests coming soon, now inviting people to sign up for the waitlist to be part of this early preview experience, also asking for their insights to better the game.

Riot Games and its Developments

The almost two-decade-old company, Riot Games, is still going strong now, especially with the top titles in its development, including its first-ever game released in 2009, League of Legends. The game received significant remarks from the gaming world, but not so much for the recent updates and changes to the experience, overall, still a widely regarded title.

Moreover, there is also the famed arena-based first-person shooter (FPS) known as VALORANT which grew massively amidst the pandemic, seeing global fame.

Almost three years ago, Riot revealed its latest development that would offer a new experience for gamers, initially calling this Project L which would center on the Champions from League of Legends in an entirely new fighting game, arcade style.

The last update from Riot was back in 2022 when it unveiled a new character who will join Project L's list of Champions coming to the game. Two years later, the company is back with a massive update for the game, now called 2XKO, and would soon start its playtesting that invites all gamers to join in, experience what it has to offer and give insights on what more to improve before it officially releases.
