NASA Mars Mission Now Looking for Astronauts, Possible Crewed Venture Coming Soon

Do you have what it takes for a trip to Mars?

NASA is now sending out a call for all interested participants to become astronauts, joining its wide range of programs for future cosmic travels including the anticipated Mars mission. While the Mars mission would be the end goal for this, other astronauts may be selected to be part of other ventures like the Artemis Moon missions, alongside other crewed activities.

This is a massive step towards the future goals and ventures of the space agency, but it has not yet announced a concrete date for the Mars mission's future launch.

NASA Mars Mission Now Looking for Astronauts

NASA's latest video is inviting interested people to join the space agency and become astronauts, with its main goal to train these personnel who will soon journey to the Red Planet, under its Mars mission. NASA said that "The Universe is Calling" for those who are interested to join the ranks of its carefully selected group of people to soon go on various missions for the agency.

According to the space agency, this application is not exclusive to the Mars mission alone, as it will also select people to become astronauts for other crewed missions including the Moon. Artemis will soon launch its crew, to land the first woman and the next group of people to the lunar surface.

Apply Now to Become a NASA Astronaut

The applications are now open and interested applicants may follow this link to apply for this opportunity.

However, there are certain qualifications and requirements asked by NASA for applicants, and this includes U.S. Citizenship, a Master's Degree in the STEM field from an accredited institution, a minimum of three years of professional experience in their field, and completing the NASA long-duration flight astronaut physical test.

NASA's Astronaut Selection Board will review and assess the applications, with two interviews to accomplish before being named the next astronaut candidate for future missions.

NASA and its Crewed Missions

The existing crewed mission of NASA now is the Artemis, and this will bring the first woman to the lunar surface and mark the return of humans to the natural satellite after more than fifty years since the last one. Earlier this year, NASA announced as much as one year delay for the Artemis missions, with its top priority being its crew's safety for the upcoming flights.

It is known that NASA long planned an ambitious trip to Mars, claiming in 2014 that by 2030, humans would already venturing to the neighboring planet for exploration and more.

For now, the hopes are still down as there are no capable spacecraft or rockets yet that can fulfill this, especially with SpaceX's Starship being the most ideal one, not yet making headway with its capabilities to go to orbit.

NASA is already eyeing Starship as the rocket for the Mars trip, but what it is searching, for now, are the people who will embark on these journeys to expand more of humanity's reach in the cosmos, with its ultimate end goal of bringing humans to Mars shortly.
