Multiple sources claimed that Tesla Cybertruck shipping delays this weekend disappointed several customers.

A Teslarati report cited Cybertruck Owner's Club forum and other sources claiming that Tesla alerted customers with planned delivery appointments of the cancellations. Forum users suspected accelerator lubrication issues, causing pedal slippage. Omar from the Whole Mars Blog said the delivery delay will last seven days.

Tesla apologized to affected customers for the car preparation delay and canceled their delivery arrangements. The organization told clients they would be contacted again once Cybertruck delivery scheduling issues were resolved.

Despite these Cybertruck delivery hurdles, Tesla is expanding the EV truck's manufacturing at its Austin Gigafactory. The manufacturer may be producing 900 to 1,000 units each week. Since its November debut, Tesla has begun delivering early Cybertrucks, but many reservation holders are still waiting. Cox Automotive reports 2,803 Tesla Cybertruck deliveries in Q1.

Tesla also uses the Cybertruck to promote its unique electric vehicle through US and foreign shows. Tesla has been touring the Cybertruck in China, Japan, and Germany, where it is not currently for sale.

Global EV Sales Doing Great

Despite of this Cybertruck delivery issue, recent figures indicate that the electric vehicle market will continue to grow in 2023, selling 13.7 million units worldwide in the fourth quarter. Because of this rise, EV sales reached 18% of global passenger vehicle sales last year, per BloombergNEF.

Despite this remarkable rise, analysts expect yearly growth rates to drop. European regulatory reforms, Chinese market saturation, and uncertainties surrounding the US presidential election may affect consumer confidence and sales.

Though problems may arise, the EV industry is projected to develop in the next few years. As governments globally tighten emissions laws and consumers embrace sustainable transportation, the EV business will grow.

Tesla's Texas Gigafactory has increased manufacturing, notably of the Cybertruck. Drone footage showed Cybertruck and Model Y units in the outgoing lot at busy times, per an earlier TechTimes report.

Tesla's Showcase Resiliency Amid Challenges

Notably, early this year, the Red Sea crisis' impact on supply chains and China's auto price cuts also lowered Tesla's shares early this year. In the US, rising labor costs and Hertz's decision to sell much of its electric car fleet hurt Tesla.

Tesla said the Iranian-backed Houthi rebel group's attacks on cargo ships and merchant boats in the Red Sea in retaliation to the Gaza Strip war had disrupted global trade, lengthening transportation times and causing supply chain gaps.

Although the US remains the largest pickup truck market, Tesla's foreign expansion is hindered by varied road restrictions. While Cybertruck is popular among Tesla fans worldwide, the company is facing challenges in expanding outside North America.

Notably, amid reports of EV sales slowdown,Tesla announced plans to build a mass-market electric vehicle, codenamed "Redwood," by mid-2025.

The company's approach mirrors CEO Elon Musk's vow to build cheap electric cars and self-driving robots. The cheaper Tesla model can compete in the increasing low-cost electric car market. Tesla Redwood will use inexpensive, next-generation electric car chassis, including a $25,000 sedan.
