This was alarming for the host country since the Summer Olympics will start in July, not to mention the Parliament elections that will happen in June.
The authorities had no idea about the hackers' whereabouts, but a single entity known as "Anonymous Sudan" claimed responsibility for the attack. The unknown cybercriminal said that the group launched a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack on some French government institutes at the time.
