The gaming company has canceled the much-anticipated annual showcase from Blizzard Entertainment, particularly BlizzCon 2024, and the event will no longer happen this year.

The company canceled the showcase early, which was expected for November. The famed event will no longer bring the latest updates on its renowned gaming franchises.

Despite the company bringing back the event only last year, the anticipated showcase this year is delayed again, with the next one expected by 2025.

Blizzard Entertainment announced via a press release that it is canceling this year's BlizzCon 2024 event that would take place later this November.

This decision was not made lightly as BlizzCon remains a very special event for all of us, and we know many of you look forward to it. While we're approaching this year differently and as we have explored different event formats in the past, rest assured that we are just as excited as ever to bring BlizzCon back in future years.

The good thing is that this would not merit abolishing the games showcase, unlike the famed indefinite cancellation of the E3 events.

Moreover, it also promised that its many announcements this year would still be made through other events and showcases later this year.

Why was BlizzCon 2024 canceled?

Blizzard did not reveal the reason behind BlizzCon 2024's cancellation, but it claimed that in the next months, it would release updates to future releases for gamers to marvel at.

This includes World of Warcraft's The War Within and Diablo IV's first expansion release, Vessel of Hatred.

With this, Blizzard would bring announcements to showcases like Gamescom but did not address whether it would join the Xbox showcase, which is slated for June 2024.

Blizzard Entertainment's Games

Blizzard Entertainment is known for its massive franchises which are beloved by many, with titles like Diablo, Hearthstone, Overwatch, StarCraft, and World of Warcraft making up for its massive offers.

Last year, Blizzard was the first to invite people back to their showcase for an in-person event with BlizzCon 2023, making physical attendance possible again.

This also came when Microsoft and Activision Blizzard concluded their merger deal following a massive fiasco from international regulators who initially looked to block the sale.

Later on, the company joined the Microsoft and Xbox umbrella, and it was said that its showcases would also feature Activision Blizzard's offers to the world.

Many different games from Blizzard Entertainment are still relevant for the world, and gamers expect many new releases and information behind their favorite franchises in events like these.

However, it is a no-go for BlizzCon 2024 without any apparent reasons, but users need not worry, as it will still be available in the years to come, unlike E3.
