In celebration of Dairy Queen's 75th anniversary, the popular dessert joint is giving away free ice cream on Monday, March 16.
Customers will be handed one free vanilla soft serve ice cream cone each in all the Dairy Queen and DQ Grill & Chill locations.
As the weather starts to get warmer, we are reminded of our favorite treats that help us cool down. Chances are you hit up your DQ for classic favorites like the Oreo Cookies Blizzard, a Dilly Bar or a Turtle Waffle Bowl Sundae, right?
While the classics never go out of style, each spring and summer seasons, we get bored of ordering the same things. Lucky for us, Dairy Queen offers a Secret Menu just like other popular chains such as Starbucks.
More than just myths, these Dairy Queen Secret Menu items are available to order at anytime. Wondering if the employees will know what you are talking about? Don't worry, because there is a rumor that all DQ's are equipped with a recipe book that features items not on the everyday menu. That means you can still order your Blizzard of the Month, even when that month is over.
Here are some of the best Dairy Queen Secret Menu items to enjoy after free cone day.

If you thought Blizzards are already perfect, than imagine them with coffee. DQ does not sell coffee ice cream, but this hack on a DQ classic is the next best thing. When you order a Oreo Cookie Blizzard, ask them to make it using coffee syrup. The syrup along with the vanilla ice cream and cookies makes this one perfect coffee-flavored treat.

You can either order a peanut butter and jelly Blizzard or a peanut butter shake, but why not combine everyone's favorite sandwich halves into an ice cream shake made to be devoured? Ask your server to add in fruit toppings to make this Peanut Butter & Jelly Shake.

The Arctic Rush is a frozen drink that is an equal balance of sweet and sour. While this is one of the most delicious ways to cool down in the summer, you can make it a dessert any time of the year by requesting the Blue Raspberry Freeze. It's basically the Arctic Rush that's made with vanilla soft serve ice cream, making it the perfect springtime treat.

While McDonald's Shamrock Shake will only be available for limited-time, you can luckily get your hands on a Mint Shake from DQ year-round. Even though it's not on the menu, you can still order it any time, just make sure you ask them to add in chocolate syrup for a Mint Chocolate Shake.

Enjoy your favorite winter drink during springtime with the Frozen Hot Chocolate from DQ. But we have to warn you that it's pretty much just a chocolate milkshake. If your server looks confused, tell them to blend ice cubes or soft served vanilla ice cream with a regular hot chocolate with whipped cream on top.

The Marshmallow Creme sundae is probably the most sinful secret at DQ. It's vanilla soft serve ice cream with marshmallow cream topping. Ask for the marshmallow creme to be added to any of your frozen snacks.

Sure you could order a banana spilt anytime, but why not turn this dessert into a Blizzard? The Banana Split Blizzard is vanilla ice cream with extra banana, strawberries and pineapples. You might have to pay extra for the extra amount of toppings, but it will be worth every bite.

Arguably the best Secret Menu item award goes to the DQ Midnight Truffle Blizzard. It was one of the most popular Blizzard of the Month offerings, and we are so happy that secretly this creation is available upon request. It features vanilla soft serve ice cream, cocoa fudge and bits of truffle.

It's also interesting to know that while pretty much every dessert item features some form of dairy, typically in ice cream form, those who are lactose intolerant can also order from the menu without getting sick. Simply order a Dairy-Free Smoothie, which is any smoothie with an ice-based mixture.
Dairy Queen will give away free cones on March 16, followed by free Italian ices at Rita's Italian Ice on March 20, and Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry's on April 14.
