The Walking Dead is close to its Season 5 finale. With that, we've begun to see several walkers with W's carved into their foreheads. This is a clear sign that another group is out there, and based on those markings, we'd venture to guess they are extremely dangerous.
The big questions right now are: who is this group and what does it intend to do before the end of the season? We have several speculations on the matter, so right now we are going to dig in and see if we can help The Walking Dead fans have some form of insight into what is happening on the borders of Alexandria.
Could the W's be nothing, or could it mean something terrible is on the horizon? Let's jump in.
The Wolves
We've seen in the show a sign that says "Wolves Not Far Away," but chances are, this could be someone trying to warn survivors that a pack of dangerous wolves are in the area. Or it could mean there's a group of the same name nearby. From what we have seen in the comics, The Wolves do not exist, but the writers of the TV show could very well make some changes here.
The Scavengers
This set of people did not meet the standards required to live in Alexandria, so they banded together to survive. While the name doesn't match the W marked on the Walkers, it is possible the writers of the show could rename The Scavengers to The Wolves.
The Whisperers
These folks are new to the comic series. They are a bit weird since they wear the face of walkers on their own face. They walk around as folks with any form of humanity, so it would make sense for them to mark walkers with Ws on their foreheads. We should point out though that The Whisperers in the comics do not play a huge role until Rick and his group have been living in Alexandria for several years.
The Saviors
Fans of the comics know a lot about this group. The leader is Negan, a dangerous man who always gets what he wants. The question is, how do the Saviors link to the Ws on the head of the Walkers? Well, this group is known for chaining up Walkers and using them as weapons. Who knows? The Saviors could be renamed The Wolves.
