Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is currently promoting his latest film, Furious 7, but as expected, questions regarding his plans for his 2019 movie Shazam will always find a way to enter the conversation.

In an interview with MTV, Johnson revealed that his rendition of the Teth-Adam character will follow the origins set in the DC New 52. Here, Adam was a slave before he got his powers from the wizard Shazam.

The Rock claims he is not certain if the director will opt to use face replacement for Adam when he's a slave or use an entirely different actor. The other thing Johnson doesn't know at this point is who will end up playing the role of Billy Batson and the hero, Shazam.

Johnson said that one of the reasons he is so excited to play Black Adam is because he has been attached to the role for the past 10 years. It is similar to how long Ryan Reynolds was assigned to the Deadpool standalone film before Fox gave the go-ahead.

"No. I can't wait to share more casting news, by the way," Johnson says to MTV. "No, we haven't picked a Shazam yet, and we have been working on the script. Half the scripts [have] already come in. Fantastic, very excited about it. And what I'm really excited about is — because, again, I've lived with this character, and this opportunity for almost 10 years now, so it's like, in my DNA! I'm like a little kid, and it's the opportunity to create his journey, but that journey has to start out properly."

What should fans expect from Black Adam? Well, since he was a slave, the character will kick things off as a villain seeking vengeance on those who have done him wrong. After that, he will slowly transform into anti-hero and may very well fight alongside the Justice League for a brief moment.

"And starting off properly is him not being a hero," Johnson added. "That's got to be earned, so he starts off as a slave. And he's pissed off, and people are going to pay. But eventually down the line he'll become an anti-hero."

With Johnson being such a charismatic actor and a commanding presence on screen, Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema will have to find the perfect actor to play Shazam. Bear in mind, they do not call Johnson "franchise Viagra" for nothing.
