At this point, everyone knows what The Walking Dead is. It's hard to go more than a few days without hearing something about the show, and it's one of the biggest TV series of the last decade.

Unfortunately, a sad side effect of the show becoming so popular is that the comics have been completely overshadowed. It's a shame, too - the comics are some of the best on the market, and far different from anything you'll find at Marvel or DC.

There are plenty of fans who have never read the comics, and it's easy to understand why: there are well over 100 issues by now, and trying to find physical copies of them all in the same place is a nightmare.

That's where ComiXology comes in: the digital comics retailer is hosting a massive Walking Dead sale throughout the rest of March. If you've been waiting to dive into the comics, this is your chance:

If you're worried that the sale is only going to cover a few select issues, don't worry: issues #1 - 132 are on sale, and they come in a variety of different formats.

For those out there who are only missing a few issues or just want to test the waters, each individual comic can be purchased for $0.99. It's a great option if you're looking to fill the holes in your back catalog, or if you want to try and get a feel for the comics before you really commit.

If you're looking to buy larger chunks of the series, there are two options: each individual volume of The Walking Dead are on sale for $4.99, and it's basically the same as buying any of the trade paperbacks in stores. They're much larger than one issue, but they're not the size of a dictionary - that honor goes to the compendiums, which contain most of the Walking Dead saga in two huge volumes. Each bundle contains 48 comics, meaning there are a few issues you'll have to pick up separately, but it's easily the best deal of the bunch at only $39.99.

Now, if you're thinking that you'll just be reading the same story as the TV show, don't worry: while the opening of the comic book and first season of the show are relatively similar, and certain stories do overlap from time to time, the show and the book are definitely telling two different stories. There are some huge twists that are exclusive to the comics - there's only so much that the show can get away with, but in the comics, everything is fair game.

The Walking Dead sale runs through March 30 - so, if you've been trying to find the best way to read the comics, now is your best chance to grab everything for cheap. If you're still unsure about picking them up, just sign up for a ComiXology account and you'll get the first issue for free.

For all of the details on the sale and its contents, head on over to ComiXology's official store.
