In recent benchmark tests, the Samsung Galaxy S6 gets way ahead of the competition, including the HTC One M9, Nexus 6, and iPhone 6.

Apple fans have, however, always been quick to point out that benchmark results are no reliable means of testing the phone's real-world performance.

This is why the YouTube user AndroidGameE decided to give what iPhone users have always been harking about: the closest thing to a real-world test to see which one between the old rivals' flagships come out with better performance.

The test involves opening a series of 16 similar apps on each phone, with a timer running in the background to see how long each phone takes to open all apps in one go. The iPhone 6 clocked in at two minutes and 17 seconds, while the Galaxy S6 took eight seconds less at two minutes and nine seconds. In this test, Samsung clearly took home the win, hands down.

Now, here are a few considerations. It is important to note that the Galaxy S6 runs on its home-grown 64-bit, octa-core Exynos 7420 and 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM compared to the iPhone 6's dual-core A8 chip, also made by Apple, and 1GB of RAM. Considering those specs, of course, the Galaxy S6 will be much faster than the iPhone 6.

Also, the 5.1-inch Galaxy S6 touts a screen with a 2560 x 1440 resolution that translates to 577 pixels per inch (ppi), compared to the iPhone 6's 1334 x 750 display with a 326 ppi. High-resolution screens are considered one of the biggest power guzzlers in smartphones. Considering the Galaxy S6 display has a much higher resolution than the iPhone 6, the eight-second difference is impressive. Imagine how much faster the phone would be if it had the same resolution as the iPhone 6.

One thing that is also worth pointing out is how most of the apps included in the test are highly optimized for Apple devices, while Samsung's Exynos mobile processors have yet to get some love from developers.

All these things considered, it seems Samsung has gotten a leg up over Apple, at least in terms of performance. Early reviews also tout the Galaxy S6's faster charging, better camera (depending on one's tastes), the aforementioned better screen, and a much better design that does resemble the iPhone.

A few Apple fans are quick to point out that the test is unfair because the tester's hands moves more slowly with the iPhone 6. Check out the video below to see if the tester is really slower on the Apple handset.
