Twitch TV is the perfect spot for gamers who want to watch video games being streamed live, or want to stream their own content to other gamers. Usually, Twitch streaming capabilities only worked on the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. However, things have changed, and now mobile gamers can get in on the fun.

In the United States, Twitch accounts for 1.8 percent of peak Internet traffic, and that doesn't even include mobile devices. Expect things to improve further once mobile gamers have the chance to stream their favorite games to millions.

The first game to support streaming to Twitch is Gameloft's most popular racing title, Asphalt 8: Airborne on iOS. It's the game Twitch hopes will drive mobile streaming popularity, while signaling that Twitch is the best place to view contents relating to video games on all the best gaming platforms.

The new Twitch broadcasting functionality will allow gamers to stream, archive, and share. On top of that, players can use the microphone and camera on their iOS device to broadcast their voice and image to viewers in real time.

To kick things off, Gameloft will be hosting a 24 hour live stream today.

"We've got an exciting new first today as Gameloft's Asphalt 8: Airborne for iOS will be the first ever mobile game to feature Twitch's live broadcasting functionality," says Twitch in a press release on its blog. The game will debut its broadcasting capabilities during the week of the Game Developers Conference (GDC) with a 24-hour live stream event on Twitch.

"Beyond broadcasting gameplay to the player's Twitch channel, Asphalt 8: Airborne's Twitch integration unlocks the door to a host of interactive functions. These include the ability to stream your voice and image using your iOS device's microphone and front-facing camera, and to monitor chat from people viewing your stream. Players can also archive their streams and share them over social media or discover streams from other Asphalt 8 players from within the app."

The ability to stream Asphalt 8: Airborne to Twitch will come by an update from the App Store very soon.

If players want to stream other titles, they will have to wait as Twitch did not specify when other titles will get their chance to shine.

At the moment, only the iPhone 5s, iPad Air, and iPad Mini are supported.
