There's one software development company that believes some people need help connecting with friends, finding new places to have fun and sharper networking skills when it comes to having a social life.

Superb, a free app at the iTunes store, promises to do all that and more with one swipe of a finger. While it's still in version 1 status, it's got a five star rating and some commendable feedback from early users.

"I've been using Evernote to keep track of all the places I've been wanting to check out, but this app makes it so much easier. I can discover new places, find friends who want to go with me and even keep track of the places I've been. Super useful. Enjoying it," shares Sseneth on the app's comment area.

Another fan, Coffeesleeve, notes "finally, an app where I can say what I want to do, and it connects me with people who also want to do them too."

The app, created by Grubwithus, arrives as smartphone makers, wireless carriers and app developers are hungry to take advantage of the incessant demand for mobile apps-from fitness needs to food needs, and also take some social network sway from titans such as Facebook.

Using Superb a person on the go can get venue options that meet their interests and find out who in their social circle may want to meet up for a meal or museum visit.

The app, said co-founder Eddy Lu, grew out of an earlier Superb app aimed at helping friends or strangers meet at a chosen dining spot and shares the goal of helping people interact in the real world.

"Facebook and Foursquare is either 'I'm here now' or 'this is what I did in the past,' we're all about future intent," explains Lu about what makes Superb different from other social networks.

So far the several-month-old app is resonating with users.

"Great visual experience. Fun to have an excuse to connect with friends at specific places we already enjoy or want to try out. Great way to find people to go places with!" writes Shopper619.
