Microsoft has announced one of the most anticipated news for Xbox One lovers. At the E3 conference, the company revealed that Xbox One will get backward compatibility for some Xbox 360 games and released an initial list of games that will be backward compatible.

The Electronic Entertainment Expo, or more commonly known as the E3, is an annual video game trade fair that brings in a lot of excitement for gamers. This year, the event has brought a lot of good news, especially for Xbox One lovers.

Microsoft announced the third-generation gaming console, the Xbox One, as the successor to the Xbox 360 in May 2013. The Xbox One started getting shipped in November 2013 and it is one of the most popular gaming consoles available in the market.

However, at launch the gaming console did not have backward compatibility, which means gamers could not play Xbox and Xbox 360 games on their new Xbox One. For gamers, there is no alternative but to buy the Xbox One version of a game, which means spending twice on the same title.

On June 15, the company confirmed that the company will be launching Xbox One Backward Compatibility this fall to allow gamers to play Xbox 360 titles on their Xbox One.

"Xbox One Backward Compatibility will be available at no additional charge, so you won't have to pay to play games you already own," said Xbox.

Backward compatibility is one of the most requested fan features. The company also has the vision to offer the best and biggest games without any limits to customers.

The Xbox One team has also released a list of 21 backward compatible games that are supported, beginning June 15, for members of the Xbox One preview program. The list of games is seen below:

–A Kingdom for Keflings
–A World of Keflings
–Alien Hominid HD
–Banjo-Kazooie
–Banjo-Tooie
–BattleBlock Theater

–Kameo
–Mass Effect
–N+
–Perfect Dark

–Super Meat Boy

A company spokesperson also revealed that more than 100 backward compatible titles will be available during this year's holiday season and hundreds more will be added in the near term.

Gamers will have to go to My Games and then Apps to download one of the backward compatible games to their Xbox One. They can also simply put the disc in the drive, install the game and start playing.
