Apple has released iOS 9 beta 2 to developers, and the new software features a number of bug fixes and performance updates to iOS 9 beta initially seeded on June 8.

With build number 13A4280e, iOS 9 beta 2 is available as an over-the-air (OTA) update but can also be downloaded manually through the Apple Development Center.

The performance problems and bugs encountered on the first beta were addressed with fixes in the second version. According to the iOS 9 beta 2 release notes, some resolved issues include faster restoration from a backup formed in iOS 9. Printing messages in Mail will also no longer result in crashes.

The second beta also displays significant improvement in AirPlay connectivity and password change in the Family section of iCloud Settings. Third-party keyboards in search results are also now working.

Apple has been focusing on developing iOS 9 being proactive and intelligent, allowing iOS devices to memorize and act based on the user's habits and provide recommendations in terms of places, apps and more.

iOS 9 beta 2 features a smarter Siri with the ability to form contextual reminders. The search function now brings up a wider range of results according to each search query.

Other pre-installed apps, such as Notes, Maps and Mail, display great improvements, and Wallet is the new name for the Apple Pay app. iOS 9 beta 2 also introduced split-screen multitasking for the iPad along with a revamped keyboard.

After putting dedicated buttons for cut, copy and paste in the first beta, the default edit function now displays undo and redo buttons in place of cut and copy. However, the cut and copy buttons return when the user selects a text.

Battery optimizations in the second beta allow iOS devices to enjoy an extra hour of battery life, and Low Power Mode prolongs battery life further.

App thinning is a cool feature added to reduce the "install sizes" of many apps. iOS updates also now consume less space in iOS 9. In addition, when a user tries to update or install iOS 9 on an Apple device without enough space, the system provides an option to delete apps temporarily and reinstall them after the update or installation is complete.

Apple has initially seeded iOS 9 for developers but the company plans to roll out a public iOS 9 beta in July before the OS' final release in the fall.
