Dropbox has rolled out an update for its Android app. Freshly sporting Material Design, version 3.0 of Dropbox for Android now features direct transfer to a selected folder after taking pictures, bypassing the photo gallery and saving space on the device.

The app's latest build offers a slide-out menu with four options, namely: Files, Photos, Favorites (mainly used for offline access) and Notifications.

Dropbox added a floating plus button to let users easily create a new folder or text file, upload files and add files from a computer. This update brings a straightforward user interface, allowing a user to navigate within a selected folder and, by clicking the "plus" button, lets the user do anything in that folder, including use the camera and save the photo directly to Dropbox.

Located at the top right side of the menu, the new search icon (magnifying glass) gives the user a faster way to find documents and search within them. Moving through the folders is as easy as swiping between right and left.

Dropbox grouped the key sharing controls and common file actions uniformly across the app, allowing users to access them with just a couple of taps. Information regarding files and folders, such as modification dates, folder locations, shared folder members and file sizes, are displayed in the file list.

With features such as in-document search and PDF viewer, this 37 MB app is a cool free service for easy file sharing with family and friends and securely saving one's files. Dropbox also allows editing documents within the app and saving email attachments directly to it.
