It may not come as a surprise to most entrerprising fans who have been in the loop of anything Star Trek related, but it's official! As confirmed by director Justin Lin, who is taking over the helm of the Star Trek movie franchise from J.J. Abrams, the third movie will be called Star Trek Beyond.

Or will it? As some have pointed out, the movie title's big reveal was actually made in a hashtag, making it look like this: #StarTrekBeyond. So it may be just a little while longer before we actually know if the movie will be Star Trek: Beyond or perhaps Star Trek Beyond, which does away with the colon just like Star Trek Into Darkness did.

This is not news to many Trekkies who have been getting updates about the film from co-writer of the screenplay Simon Pegg, who also played Scottie in the first two reboots. On May 19, he wrote a blog entry titled, "Big Mouth Strikes Again," wherein he slipped up at the end when he said: "Speaking of which I better climb aboard the old hypocropter and fly back to writing Star Trek Beyond."

Lin's Twitter announcement made it just a tad bit more official and final. In addition to revealing the third film's title, he also posted an ultra close-up photo of the Starfleet insignia on a blue uniform with the words United Federation of Planets circling the logo.

He also included the hashtag #LLAP, a reference to the unforgettable lines uttered by Spock, "Live long and prosper."

Fans can't wait to go beyond, with Lin in the director's seat. Most known for his work on the Fast and Furious films, Lin said that the screenplay penned by Pegg and Doug Jung does not borrow any plotlines from the previous Star Trek movies or TV series the way Into Darkness did.

"It's all new and fresh ... The Klingons, Romulans and other species are great, but it's time to go further. It has been fun to focus on creating whole new worlds and species," he said.

#StarTrekBeyond is set to hit theatres on July 8, 2016.
