Super Smash Bros 4 now reaches version 1.0.9 on the Nintendo Wii U, receiving a new downloadable game patch.

This new version doesn't bring major changes, but it does include slight improvements aiming to enhance the Super Smash Bros 4 Wii U experience. The latest update for the Wii U game is now available for download through the Nintendo eShop.

Users will not be able to enjoy the online multiplayer features unless they download this update. Consequently, Nintendo strongly advises all fans of Super Smash Bros for Wii U to download and install the update for everything to go smoothly.

"Adjustments have been made for a more pleasant gaming experience," the release note further pointed out. Considering how brief the note is, the update is likely not large.

To download the Super Smash Bros 4 version 1.0.9 update, first of all make sure your Wii U device is connected to the Internet. Next up, load your physical copy of the game. If you have a digital copy of Smash Bros 4, access the copy on your Wii U. Proceed to launch the game.

When prompted to get the latest update after launching the game, accept and follow the on-screen instructions so the system downloads and installs the Super Smash Bros v1.0.9 update on your Wii U.

Nintendo 3DS owners, meanwhile, don't seem invited to this party for now. The Smash Bros 4 version 1.0.9 is now available as a patch download for the Wii U, but Nintendo makes no mention of the 3DS version. The company should release an update to the 3DS version of the game as well, but no information is currently available in this regards.

The game still has a number of glitches and exploits despite the latest updates, but upcoming fixes should match things up soon enough. Meanwhile, new DLC characters have been making their way to Super Smash Bros 4, including popular figures such Ryu, Lucas, Roy and Mewtwo. The latter comes as a special bonus characters for those who bought the game for the Wii U or Nintendo 3DS consoles. Nintendo further promises to add more DLC in the future.
