A new promotional video published by LG has the tech world abuzz over its new G Watch that is equipped with a few sensational and key features. The video has sparked a bunch of online chatter over the future of watches that have multiple capabilities, which was made popular by Samsung's Galaxy companion watch, which earned rave reviews.

The new G Watch is Android compatible and has a cool, sleek design that is also extremely lightweight, aiming to allow wearers to not be burdened by previous e-Watches that were on the heavy side. It is also waterproof, which allows users to wear the watch outdoors without fear of it becoming defunct due to precipitation.

While the company had already revealed a little on the G Watch in April on its website in a shorter, more concise video, the recent video delivers an abundance of product information and is a marketing effort to continue to push LG into the mobile tech market after seeing success with their smartphone line.

The watch was co-developed by Google, hence the "G" in the name, and is to have Android Wear - a modified Android version for wearable products - and aims to be the continuation of the ongoing battle for wearable tech, which has seen Google partner with Asus, HTC, Motorola and Samsung in developing smaller wearable tech.

LG says the new watch will deliver "useful information when you need it most," which is to include reminders and directions while lost. It is also to be voice-activated, says the company, with users only needing to say "OK Google" to get things searched online, send a text message or set a reminder in the calendar.

As opposed to its Samsung counterpart, the Gear smartwatch series, the G Watch's screen will never sleep, which means it will always be displaying the time whenever one looks at their wrist, much like a traditional watch.

The promotional video comes as LG continues to ramp up its public push and smartwatches are the next evolution for the company. The G Watch is expected to be heading to the shelves in the near future, although LG did not give a specific date as to when it would be on sale for the general public.

It can be purchased in either champagne gold, stealth black.
