It's crazy to think that in just a few short weeks, Walking Dead fans will finally be able to watch the franchise's first spin-off, Fear the Walking Dead. Only recently, it felt like AMC would keep the series under wraps until it premiered — and, while fans have gotten to see a couple teasers over the past few weeks, most of the show's story is still shrouded in mystery.

To be perfectly honest, that's probably a good thing: the original Walking Dead series focused on a similar approach before its first season aired, and it quickly became one of the most-watched shows on television. Then again, fans of the comics already had an idea of what would happen... but they don't have that same advantage going into Fear the Walking Dead.

In keeping with the trend of not revealing too much story, AMC has released a huge batch of new cast photos. While most fans were probably hoping for yet another teaser, this latest set of photos offers up one of the best looks at the show's cast yet:

If there's any one surprise to come out of these photos, it's that the show's titular walking dead are nowhere to be found. True, AMC did release a few photos of the show's new walkers already, but considering the original series' penchant for focusing on the zombies, the lack of shambling corpses is something of a shocker.

It'll furthermore be interesting to see if the show kicks off with a group ensemble, or follows the structure of the original. Remember, almost half of the first season of The Walking Dead was spent watching Rick stumble through Atlanta. Fear the Walking Dead is clearly focusing on an earlier stage in the zombie apocalypse, so forming a group more quickly is definitely on the table — one way or another, fans will just have to wait and see.
