Algoriddim's djay 2 app for Apple iOS devices and streaming music service Spotify are making DJ dreams come true, following a partnership that would also further boost bigger customer base for both companies.

The djay 2 app welcomes an addition of over 20 million song collections from Spotify on Thursday, as opposed to the previous versions of the DJ app wherein users only have access to songs stored in their devices or in iTunes library. Now, djay 2 app users have instant access to Spotify's music catalogue, without the need to download the latter to Apple's iOS devices, and immediately can start mixing tracks from the massive catalogue of the music streaming service.

"Downloading would have been an easier solution, but it kills the experience. We wanted to instantly have it play on the fly," Karim Morsy, Algoriddim CEO, tells The Next Web.

Algoriddim also says the djay 2 app transforms the iPad, iPhone or Mac devices into a full-featured DJ system, smoothly integrating the user's personal music library and Spotify's own music collection.

"Not only can Spotify Premium users DJ millions of songs, but they'll also enjoy real-time, intelligent suggestions on what to play next, powered by The Echo Nest's analysis of all the music on Spotify," Spotify's VP of product Sten Garmark says in a statement.

Users don't have to be professional DJs though, to play with the DJ app.

"Djay 2 will help DJs and regular music enthusiasts, regardless of their skill level, select the perfect songs for their set - or simply lean back and let djay 2 turn any Spotify playlist into a slick DJ set for parties or private listening," Garmark adds.

The djay 2 app shows two digital turntables, along with on-screen display of a supposedly real DJ's environment including speed control, faders, vinyl "scratch" and other usual effects for DJ-ing. It has a fresh user interface that makes use of sliding layers in order to mix turntables, along with a drum machine and HD Waveforms for that ultimate DJ system experience.

Gathered research reveals Spotify engaged in a similar deal with another DJ app, the Pacemaker iPad DJ app, in February this year.

The streaming music service has now reached over 10 million paying global subscribers, thus leading in the race for music streaming, Spotify says in a statement on Wednesday. With its latest partnership with Algoriddim's djay 2 app, market analysts expect additional international following for both parties.

To have entire access of 20 million songs from Spotify, one has to register a premium account worth $9.99 a month and $5 for student subscriptions. The djay 2 app users, however, luckily have a free trial for seven days if they want to get a look and feel on how things work first. The said app is available next week for free on iPhone handsets and at half the price that is $4.99 for iPad.
