Rumors have been flying around for a while now that Google is teaming up with Huawei and LG to make two separate Nexus smartphones to be released later this year.

LG is a trusted partner on this already, but the Nexus team-up with Huawei will be a first. Now, we might actually be able to put some images and specs to one of them, namely the alleged Huawei Nexus, thanks to a video that has appeared on the net.

The leaked video claims to be showing a prototype of a new Huawei Nexus smartphone. The video was posted by Steve Hemmerstoffer of Nowhereelse.fr who is also the owner of the @onleaks Twitter account.

Hemmerstoffer is a pretty credible source as he has leaked unannounced smartphones before and was right on spot. This means the leaked Huawei Nexus video has a good chance of being legitimate as well.

The phone featured on the slightly shaky short clip, which seems to have been filmed on the fly, sports the trademark look of Chinese manufacturer Huawei. Not much can be discerned from the brief video.

However, the black back cover is reminiscent of the Huawei Honor 7. Furthermore, one can spot a fingerprint reader on the phone's back—again, something that we know from Huawei and something future Nexus phones are likely to have.

The camera sensor, however, looks more like a Nexus device's rather than one of a Huawei device. The handset looks very big. This would fit the ongoing rumors that the upcoming Nexus will feature a 5.7-inch QHD display.

A potential partnership between Google and Huawei is not uncontroversial. The Chinese manufacturer does not have the best reputation in the U.S. and, on top of that, the Chinese government is said to be somewhat tangled up in the company.

However, Google would also take into account that it is so far not a significant player in the huge and ever expanding Chinese market yet. Teaming up with Huawei would open up that market to Google nicely and probably bring enormous revenue if the Huawei Nexus is done right.
