New images of AT&T and Samsung's Galaxy S5 Active have been leaked. The images provide the clearest look yet at the tougher Galaxy S5.

Samsung is gearing up for a very busy summer. The company is holding a 'Tab into Colour' event on June 12 where it's widely expected to announce new high-end 10.5-inch and 8.4-inch Galaxy Tab S tablets. The new tablets will feature very high-resolution 2560 x 1600 QHD Super AMOLED displays. The company is also getting ready to launch a few Galaxy S5 variants; Galaxy S5 Mini, Galaxy S5 Prime and Galaxy S5 Active.

When word leaked Samsung was working on the Galaxy S5 Active, it stunned many in the tech world because it was believed to have been replaced by the Galaxy S5, now that it's also waterproof and dust-resistant. The smartphone is very much real and we recently reported on a video showing off the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5. There are also some reports that say Sprint will also get the more rugged Galaxy S5 Active.

The always-reliable evleaks has posted a full gallery with up close and personal crystal clear shots of the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 Active.  The smartphone is similar in size to the Galaxy S5 and is reportedly using the same 5.1-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD Super AMOLED display. The image also shows the S5 Active's rear case, where its 16-megapixel rear camera, built-in heart rate sensor, AT&T branding, and removable back cover in detail.

Unlike the Samsung Galaxy S5, which features a fingerprint scanner in its home button, the Galaxy S5 Active will use three physical buttons but will also have an "Active Key" that will reportedly allow users to open different apps and perform tasks based on the duration of the press. You can also see its very ruggedized plastic and metal case that gives it its 'Active' name.

The Galaxy S5 Active will reportedly use very similar internals to the Galaxy S5, including a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and 2GB of RAM.

It would seem out of character of Samsung to use its "Tab into Colour" event to announce the Galaxy S5 Active, since it appears to be focused on the company's tablets. It's safe to assume an official announcement is on the way very soon, considering how many AT&T Galaxy S5 Active's are already in the wild. We'll keep you posted.
