Looks like sometimes there is magic in the movies. In a Reddit AMA on Aug. 20 hosted by Sir Patrick Stewart, the British actor revealed that the levitating wheelchair his character Professor X used to get around in actually levitated.

In response to a fan that asked PatStew what was his favorite part of playing Professor Charles Xavier, founder and leader of the X-Men, the actor indirectly lauded the design team behind the movie franchise as he revealed the secret of the hovering wheelchair: "Great costumes in every film, but I loved my superhero costume and my flying chair in Days of Future Past. The chair actually levitated, but only a few inches."

"The chair levitated!? Thats so cool! Thats what I love about the film crews. They make the impossible possible :)," said the first Reddit responder, a user named bellgaudreau1 said.

While Stewart did not reveal the special effects used to make this happen, another Reddit user had a theory: "Magnets and a metal track embedded in the set probably. Look up the new Lexus hover board." wrote commenter JuliousBatman.

And, of course, there were dissenters; a commenter named generaltsao stated, "Sir Stew, people are taking your levitating chair comment seriously. Oh, for [expletive deleted] sake."

As to whether Stewart was joking or not, the actor has yet to respond.
