Destiny's third expansion, The Taken King, is set to be the game's biggest add-on yet. From a brand-new zone that players can explore to a new raid, there is plenty of content coming that will make the game fresh again for longtime players.

If, however, you were looking forward to blasting your way to 40 as soon as possible and tackling the game's new King's Fall raid, you'll have to wait. Much like The Vault of Glass in the original Destiny, Bungie won't be unlocking the King's Fall raid until sometime after The Taken King's September 15 release.

The Taken King director Luke Smith told IGN that while it won't be available on day one, Bungie will definitely let players know ahead of time when the raid will unlock.

"We definitely have a plan for when it's going to be available," Smith said. "I'm not going to announce the plan for it on the YouTube gaming stage. But I promise for people who are excited about the raid will know when it's time to take time off work. We'll give em' a heads up."

Bungie has previously stated that King's Fall is the game's biggest raid yet, as players will be journeying deep into the massive Hive ship known as the Dreadnaught to confront Oryx, the father of Crota. You may remember defeating Crota in the game's The Dark Below expansion, where he served as the expansion's final raid boss. Now his father Oryx has caught wind of your deeds and is looking for revenge.

It's a bit of a bummer that players won't be able to B-line straight for the new raid, but there's plenty of new content to explore other than King's Fall. New story missions, bounties and multiplayer maps are all being added to the $40 expansion, as are new weapons and armor.

Dramatic changes are also coming to the game's leveling system. No longer will Light levels be the primary way to increase your character's level. Instead, players will level their way to 40 simply by completing quests, bounties and defeating enemies. How this will effect the raid requirements for King's Fall is still uncertain, but expect Bungie to provide more details soon.
