Samsung seems to be focusing on the Internet of Things (IoT) now a Sleep Sense gadget will likely be the highlight of its IFA 2015 presentation.

The company already launched its latest-generation smartphones with the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ and its upcoming IFA trove will likely feature far less oomph.

Instead, Samsung is expected to focus on showcasing its IoT-related endeavors at the trade show and a sleep tracker called Sleep Sense currently sounds the most exciting.

Sleep Sense will be one of the first IoT products from Samsung following its SmartThings acquisition and it promises some neat functionality. The sleep tracker is designed to fit under a user's mattress and track their sleep, movements and sleep patterns, offering some features based on what it tracks.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of Sleep Sense is the fact that it can control other connected devices in a user's home. For instance, if it detects that the user can't sleep because it's too hot or too cold, Sleep Sense can connect to an air conditioner to maintain an optimum sleep temperature. If it detects that the user fell asleep, Sleep Sense can turn off the TV. Interconnected home devices hold great potential and can significantly increase comfort and convenience, which is what Sleep Sense aims to do besides its core functionality.

Moreover, Samsung's upcoming IoT-enabled sleep tracker also boasts EarlySense technology, which allows it to detect the user's breathing rate and heart rate while asleep. Samsung's EarlySense is FDA-approved, reveals the press release (translated).

Users will be able to monitor all Sleep Sense stats in real time using a companion app, which will be available as a free download.

Samsung will release Sleep Sense later this year in its home market of South Korea, as well as other global markets. The company has yet to offer exact availability and pricing details, but should provide more information shortly.

The IFA 2015 trade show kicks off this Friday, Sept. 4, in Berlin, Germany, and runs through Sept. 9. Aside from Sleep Sense, however, it remains to be seen what other exciting devices Samsung will have to showcase.

Samsung is posting updates regarding its IFA 2015 plans on its official blog and consumers will be able to watch the live stream online to see what the company showcases.
