Fans of Deus Ex: Human Revolution may get a treat soon, thanks to the Xbox One.

The official Deus Ex Twitter account recently hinted that the third game in the Deus Ex franchise may soon become backwards compatible for play on the Xbox One.

"We're working to make it happen," wrote the Deus Ex Twitter account after a fan asked about the possibility of the game getting backwards compatibility. "We're hoping to have good news soon!"

That certainly sounds like video gamers will soon get to play the title on the Xbox One, although it isn't a certain confirmation.

After Microsoft initially announced that its Xbox One would become backwards compatible, the company started a poll asking gamers what games they'd like to see. Deus Ex: Human Revolution was at the top of many players' lists, although it wasn't one of the initial titles to see backwards compatibility.

That initial list included many fan favorites, such as Mass Effect, Kameo, Perfect Dark, Small Arms, Super Meat Boy and Toy Soldiers. The poll features other favorites at the top of the list, including Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Injustice: Gods Among Us, Mortal Combat, Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag and Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition. Deus Ex: Human Revolution lands in the top 10, however, in that list.

The decision ultimately lies with the developers, though, so it seems that Eidos and publisher Square Enix sees potential in making Deus Ex: Human Revolution backwards compatible for fans.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a cyberpunk first-person action and stealth roleplaying game initially released in 2011 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. As the third game in the series, it takes place 25 years before the first game and 45 years before the second game in the series, when multinational companies have become more powerful than governments. The player takes on the role of Adam Jensen, a bio-enhanced security manager at a biotechnology firm.

After its release, Deus Ex: Human Revolution received praise from gamers and critics alike, with a solid 90 score on Metacritic.

"Deus Ex: Human Revolution, like its augmented hero, is a step above its mundane peers," wrote Destructoid in its review of the game. "With its flowing, open approach to mission structure, thoroughly engrossing story and gorgeous visuals, this is the kind of game that all others should strive to be."
