A new LG Class smartphone has just made its official debut, arriving as a five-inch mid-ranger with a premium metal body and powerful specs for its category.

LG recently started to create a buzz around "Something New" set to launch on Monday, Sept. 21, and many expected the company to unveil a new high-end flagship with premium specs. As it turns out, the teaser referred to another mid-range smartphone that now joins LG's lineup, and it might not even make it globally.

The new LG Class features a 5-inch HD IPS display (1,280 x 720 pixels) and packs a 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and paired with 2 GB of RAM and an Adreno 306 graphics processing unit (GPU).

Other specs include 16 GB of internal storage space, microSD support for expandable storage of up to a whopping 2 TB, a 13-megapixel rear shooter, an 8-megapixel selfie cam on the front and a 2,050 mAh battery to keep everything up and running. The LG Class is also 4G LTE-enabled and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.

It's not hardware specs that make this smartphone stand out from the crowd, however, it's the design. The LG Class boasts a full-metal body and a 2.5D curved glass on top of the display. The handset further features LG's rear key layout, with all physical buttons (power button, volume rocker) located at the rear of the device.

The company announced that its new LG Class mid-ranger will become available for purchase on Monday, Sept. 21, through a number of carriers in South Korea. At least for the time being, the handset seems to be exclusive to South Korea. LG has no plans currently to release the LG Class worldwide, but could change its mind in the future and go for a global rollout. A budget-friendly smartphone with mid-range specs and a premium body could raise plenty of interest.

For now, the LG Class costs 399,300 won, which translates to roughly $340, and is available in silver, gold and blue-black color options. On the product website, LG notes that a white LG Class is expected to launch later.
