Rumors of the Droid Turbo 2 getting released by Verizon later this year have circulated all over the Internet. As the rumored launch date approaches, more details regarding the upcoming Motorola handheld are getting leaked out.

A couple of weeks ago, it was reported that Droid Turbo 2 will be introduced to the U.S. market by Verizon. If the rumors are to be believed, it is the same handheld as the Moto X Force, which Motorola plans to release in China and Europe.

More recent leaks from the same source, @upleaks, suggests that Motorola plans to pursue the Droid Turbo 2 release before October ends, on Oct. 29 to be precise. As previously reported, the international version, the European Union and Chinese versions will launch on December.

Prior to the unveiling, the Illinois-based telecommunications company is expected to release an announcement on Oct. 15 as confirmation.

Aside from Verizon's shelves, the Droid Turbo 2 is also reported for release through Moto Maker, Motorola's customization platform on which interested buyers can design and personalize any supported device. If true, it will be the first Droid device to be supported on the browser-based customization engine and will join the Moto G and Moto X in enjoying Moto Maker's modular customization.

Note that although the first Droid Turbo came out with customization options, it wasn't supported on Moto Maker.

Furthermore, word around the campfire is that when the Droid Turbo 2 gets purchased through the Moto Maker, users will have the option of trading in the device for another one within two years of purchasing it.

Together with the rumored design customizations, Droid Turbo 2's technical specifications were also leaked. The supposed 5.43-inch Android smartphone will be fitted with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core SOC, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB or 64 GB of on-board storage, a 21MP main camera and 5MP front camera. Based on the SoC, the Droid Turbo 2 will have a resolution of 2560 x 2048 pixels, which is rich for the 5.43-inch QHD display.

Note that everything stated here is purely speculative and no official confirmation has been released by both Motorola and Verizon.
