Frances Bean Cobain, daughter of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, slipped under the radar and recently tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend Isaiah Silva.
The 23-year-old visual artist and her boyfriend of five years had been planning the wedding for some time. They decided on an intimate ceremony with around 15 guests--among which Courtney Love was not included.
Cobain is keeping mum on the reason why "mum" wasn't invited. The same, however, may not be said about the rock star mother.
"Courtney loves Isaiah, but was devastated to learn that Frances had gotten married without her knowing," a source says. "Courtney really likes Isaiah and is very happy for Frances. Courtney is sad she wasn't at the wedding."
The Eeries frontman Isaiah Silva was pushed to the limelight ever since word of his relationship with Cobain broke out, even more so when they announced their engagement in 2011, after a year of dating. The 30-year-old alternative rock band singer has also been the object of attention for his uncanny resemblance to the late Kurt Cobain.
"Frances called her after, but [she] understands why she did it," continues the source. "This has not caused a rift between mom and daughter. Courtney was sad, but she's cool, and Isaiah is a great son-in-law."
With issue upon issue being fired at the family, Cobain's relationship with her mother, as portrayed to the public, has been nothing short of controversial. Prior to Frances Cobain's birth, rumors of drug use sparked a child welfare services investigation, drawing into Kurt Cobain and Courtney Loves parenting capabilities. This resulted in the removal of the couple's custody of Cobain when she was two weeks old. The couple eventually regained custody of their daughter.
In December 2009, a judge issued a related temporary restraining, preventing Love from contacting Cobain. Wendy O'Conner, Cobain's paternal grandmother, and Kimberly Cobain, Kurt Cobain's sister, was designated as Cobain's temporary co-guardians. The action was done on allegations of domestic violence.
In January 2015, the mother and daughter were photographed reunited at the Sundance red carpet for "Montage of Heck."
For Cobain's 23rd birthday, Love posted the following tweet:
