Back on the PlayStation 3, the Uncharted franchise was one of the best series in the console's library. They were some of the most polished games of the last generation, regardless of platform: Naughty Dog did an amazing job bringing such over-the-top action to life, and the attention to detail that's present throughout the games is almost unrivaled in the industry.

When the games were first released, the idea of fitting all of them on a single Blu-ray seemed impossible — each Uncharted game had enough in it to fill an entire disc on its own, so how could anyone possibly cram everything onto a single disc?

Somehow, the team over at Bluepoint Games has managed to do just that: the upcoming Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection includes the first three games in the series, on one disc, all running in 1080p at 60 frames per second. Of course, getting the games running at such a high resolution is no small feat — and it looks like all that graphical goodness may have come at the cost of hard drive storage, as the Uncharted collection requires upwards of 45 GB of space.

What's surprising about the announcement is that the Uncharted collection doesn't feature any of the series' multiplayer content — all 44.46 GB are dedicated to each game's single-player campaign — whether or not there's anything else eating up that hard drive space has yet to be revealed, but given the size and scope of the games' single-player stories, it wouldn't be all that surprising if they took up all that space on their own.

Sadly, with its release coming in just a few weeks, it doesn't look like the Uncharted collection will be slimming down any time soon — anyone with a full HDD may want to clear out a few apps before launch day.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection will hit store shelves on Oct. 7.
