Dominic Toretto and his crew are on for (as the sales cliché goes) "Not one, not two, but three!" last rides.

In a Facebook post last Sept. 25, Vin Diesel announced that "Fast & Furious" promises a trilogy before finally concluding its run--or drive, for that matter.

"I promised the studio I would deliver one last Trilogy to end the saga," Diesel wrote.

The actor has played Dominic Toretto in the franchise since it first came out in 2001. The most recent installment of the franchise, "Fast & Furious 7", grossed over $1.5 billion globally, making it into a record-breaking run by Universal Studios. The movie was a tribute to main character Brian O'Conner, played by Paul Walker, who died in a single-vehicle collision in Nov. 2013.

Diesel was devastated upon news of his co-star and best friend's death.

"The fans of the Fast & Furious SAGA are the best fans in the world... Since I became the Producer in 2008, you have been with me every step of the way... literally giving me feedback that proved invaluable. Thank you," Diesel said.

A recent report detailed some trouble behind the scenes of "Fast & Furious 8", and revealed that Universal Pictures was struggling to lock down on a director, due to Diesel's over-involvement in the writing process.

Diesel's Facebook post seemed to allude to above controversy.

"My producing partner Neal would love for me to just sign off on a director, but this is too special a franchise, so these matters have to be very carefully handled. To be clear, NO ONE has been offered to helm Fast 8 yet... let alone seen a script ... I will announce the directors on my next post," the 38-year old actor stated. He was referring to producer and Original Film founder Neal H. Moritz.

His next post about "Fast & Furious" reads:

All weekend long, my producing partner Neal, the Studio and myself have been mapping out the future of our SAGA... All aspects of the trilogy, including the announcement of it's respective directors, which is only building our excitement. I am really enjoying this process... but what gives me a unique sense of pride is that you all have been a part of it. To hear them reference the comments you contribute to Our page is truly amazing. On behalf of the FAST Family, we thank you for making our DVD the biggest in history. We make these films with Our hearts."
