The Volkswagen rigged emissions tests scandal continues to be the talk around the automotive industry.

But VW isn't the only automaker to have cars on the road that are emitting more pollutants than they should. According to research by Adac, Europe's largest motoring organization, in a report put together by The Guardian, there's a list of new diesel cars that have been discovered to emit significantly higher pollutant levels than they should, exceeding regulations. New diesel cars from the likes of Nissan, Hyundai, Fiat, Volvo, Renault and Jeep are implicated in the report.

Amongst the findings in Europe, Adac found the Jeep Renegade to emit 10 times more nitrogen oxides (NOx), while Hyundai's i20 1.1 and Fiat's 500x 1.6 emitted at least six times more NOx.

Adac also found the Volvo S60 D4 to produce NOx emissions over 14 times regulation, prompting the carmaker to tell The Guardian: "We are investigating this incident further. An early indication is that the emission control system was out of order."

The Volvo spokesman added, later, though: "Every Volvo car on the market today meets the legal Euro 6 standard for NOx emissions, based on the current test."

Reinhard Kolke, head of testing and technical affairs at Adac, told the Guardian: "If all cars complied with [the official EU NOx limit], we would have solved all the worst health effects. Every consumer has the right to expect all manufacturers to do this. But still there are these gross emitters."
