Today's younger generation is born straight into the digital world. With this idea in mind, Nissan devised a wacky and hip concept targeted for "share natives," or people who create, share and connect via the Internet.

Practicality-wise, the concept is a distracted driving nightmare waiting to happen.

Nissan studied possible ideas that could excite share natives who now turn to services such as Uber or ZipCar for transportation. Kids today aren't as interested in driving automobiles the way their parents were, Nissan discovered.

Designed purely for lifestyle and aesthetics, Nissan's Teatro for Dayz is a symbolic innovation in technology meant to give us a glimpse of what the future may hold. It will not be out in the market anytime soon, however.

The electric car's interior is a modifiable blank canvas.

In drive mode, the purely white dashboard contains maps, controls and meters, but when parked, the electric car transforms into a completely different device.

The electric car's interior is a modifiable blank canvas that urns into a live display of creativity.

Outside, the electric car is outfitted with LED screens which can display EV battery levels while charging. These LED screens are customizable for self-expression.

Users can instantly share any moment with family or friends inside the electric car with the onboard camera.

"What's important is not whether something is experienced personally or virtually. What matters is the process of sharing," Hidemi Sasaki, Nissan's product planning general manager, says.

Sasaki explains that share natives tend to look beyond a car's basic function of transportation. Instead, they want a car which can become a creative tool similar to a smartphone.

Nissan created Teatro for Dayz to be modifiable based on a person's moods or quirks. The electric car is also compact, and thus it can be charged at home rather than at a regular charging station. Its battery technology can also be used to recharge mobile devices.

Teatro for Dayz will be exhibited at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.

The electric car, which is part of Nissan's lineup of near-future concept vehicles, "departs from convention and marks a shift in perception." Nissan hopes to start an open conversation about the changing functions of automobiles.
