Destiny players have all but been beating their heads on their screens trying to unlock the secrets of the game that would finally allow them to access the quest for the Sleeper Simulant weapon that has been teased ever since Bungie started doing promo runs for The Taken King.

As is turned out, the players had no need to lose any sleep over the quest because all they really had to do was practice a bit of patience and, well, wait. The secret to unlocking the Sleeper Simulant quest was finally revealed, not by an ingenious player on Reddit, but by Bungie themselves.

As released today, Oct. 8, a story mission found on the Earth map called The First Firewall kicks off the journey to finally obtain the sought-after Sleeper Simulant rifle.

According to reports, once you embark on The First Firewall mission, you'll end up in Rasputin's bunker where Taken and Hive knights will begin to appear in a not so random pattern. Not to spoil anything for later, but yes, we are spoiling things for later, so skip over the rest of this section if you want to figure things out on your own – Take note of this pattern!

Beat four waves of these bad guys and the Taken Boss that comes after them and you'll be rewarded with a Curious Transceiver.

This Transceiver will ask you to input a certain pattern. If you were paying attention, you will know exactly what to do in order to activate this new object.

Now a new mission called Shadow Call will appear on your map. You will need to track down a new relic on Earth for this temporary mission which entails you to do a repeat performance of the platform jumping you did in the original Taken King quest – only this time you'll be under time constraints.

But it will be worth it because in the end, you'll be rewarded with an exotic item: the Ikelos Fusion Core.

Upon examining this new prize, it will tell you that it is missing five components which is a riddle you will have to solve by completing certain events and keeping track of when they spawn. But once you've input all the correct data and components, the Core will be ready to be taken to the Gunsmith who will not exactly give you the Sleeper Simulant just yet.

You didn't think after all this time, Bungie would make it so easy now, would you?

The Gunsmith will tell you that he needs to think things over which means players will need to lay back a bit for a new mission to unlock the next step into getting their hands on that rifle.

And in case you're one of the unlucky few who can't even see The First Firewall mission on their map yet, just hang in there and collect more purple fusion rifles to turn in to the Gunsmith for reputation points. They are fairly common in the wild, so it shouldn't take you too long.

But better hurry because as it turns out, this is all available today only and the chance to complete this first step in obtaining the Sleeper Simulant may be gone before you know it.
