Sure, anyone with a GoPro in his or her hand is technically a filmmaker, but now aspiring auteurs will be getting an official education in the action footage arts.

GoPro has launched a new program with the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts in which the company will provide cameras and accessories to film school students as well as guided workshops, training and mentors this fall.

This new program is in conjunction with the newly launched GoPro Awards, which encourages GoPro content creators to submit photos, raw video clips and edits made using the company's action cams for consideration to be included in GoPro Channel programming. Filmmakers will also receive monetary rewards for their contributions. The company has pledged to give up to $5 million annually to content creators.

GoPro will feature the best work from the program with USC on this platform. USC students will also be able to receive monetary prizes for their work through GoPro Awards.
