The Nexus 5X has finally made its way to eager consumers and tech pundits alike. The 5.2-inch smartphone which costs $379 is said to be value for money and the first impressions point to a solid device that is budget friendly.

We take a look at what reviewers are saying after unboxing the Nexus 5X.

The folks at GottaBeMobile were pretty impressed with the Nexus 5X despite the fact that it lacks an octa-core processor.

"It isn't too big, not too small, yet is still an extremely capable and powerful smartphone. It's enough to be called a "flagship phone" and no one should call it a mid-range one, just because it doesn't have the latest 8-core processor. Our short time with the Nexus 5X was nothing short of impressive, especially considering the price," notes the publication.

The improved specs of the Nexus 5X when compared to its predecessor may be a deal sealer for many, but the smartphone's improved design has the TechnoBuffalo team pleased.

"The Nexus 5 was by no means the perfect phone. But its blandness was somehow charming; the size was perfect, it ran smoothly, and it did everything you asked of it. The Nexus 5X is everything the Nexus 5 was, but better. Better specs, better camera, better design. And now there's a fingerprint sensor on back to take advantage of Android Pay," per the publication.

The presence of the usual quick start guide notwithstanding, the Phonearena team were surprised by the USB Type-C cable which has replaced the traditional microUSB one as it does not offer support for older USB chargers.

"What's apparently untraditional at play here is the USB Type-C cable that's packaged along, replacing the usual microUSB one we're all accustomed to seeing. Now this is interesting, mainly because this is a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable - so both ends use the newer USB Type-C connection. Most folks would assume that one end would be a traditional Type-A connection, so it can be used in other USB wall chargers you might have lying around, but that's not the case," feels John V.

During the unboxing, the folks at Android Central were disappointed that the Nexus 5X does not come with a USB-A to -C cable, which is a downer.

"Perhaps more important is the lack of a USB-A to -C cable in the box, so if you want to connect to a PC or you want to use one of your existing charging cables you're going to need to find some alternatives. Otherwise, this is just about exactly what we expected to find in this box," reveals Russell Holly.
