Housemarque's sci-fi game "Returnal" bagged the Best Game Award during the recently-concluded BAFTA Games Awards 2022. After getting snubbed in the prestigious event last year, the PS5 exclusive video game title made a resounding comeback to the podium.
'Returnal' Pockets Four Awards at BAFTA Games Awards
Housemarque's PS5 exclusive sci-fi game "Returnal" starred the BAFTA Games Awards night after bagging four awards including the Best Game.
Aside from winning the Best Game Award at BAFTA night, "Returnal" collected three more awards, including the best Music, best Performer in a leading role, and best Music and Audio achievement, Pushsquare reported on Friday, Apr.8.
Jane Perry snagged the leading role as Celeste in the game. The Canadian video game actor could not fathom her emotions upon being announced as one of the winners.
She gave a speech about her success and thanked the whole organization for her recognition in the gaming industry. Aside from that, Perry also acknowledged the efforts of the game developers, especially in bringing the character of "Selene" to life.
"She hopes for a better future and I think given the very serious state of the world right now that we can all take inspiration from Selene," Perry said.
Meanwhile, Sony had another run with "Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart" after pocketing two awards, particularly in the Technical and Animation Achievement.
The best game from last year, "It Takes Two," also showed strong composure during the awards night after it tied with nine nominations with the current winner. It managed to collect two awards that night, Entertainment.ie reported.
"It Takes Two" netted awards in the Best Original Property and Multiplayer categories at the BAFTA awards event.
Per Josef Fares, the founder of Hazelight Studios, the success of "It Takes Two" made them happy and proud. He joked that the Multiplayer award was something that he expected all the way.
