Uuuo, a Japanese startup that operates a fresh seafood digital marketplace, is expanding into Southeast Asia. Nikkei Asia reports that the Hiroshima-based company has launched an on-demand delivery service for businesses in Thailand and Cambodia, allowing them to access fresh seafood from over 100 Japanese harbors.

Uuuo's Fish Delivery App Expansion

Uuuo's app is already popular in Japanese supermarkets and other businesses, where its users order fresh seafood daily. Customers from outside Japan can now order various catches of the day through the Uuuo Importer app with an export agent who handles logistics and delivery schedules.

Real-time access to fresh catches from all of the platform's affiliated harbors is one of the platform's best features. With this, importers have more options for suppliers and the kinds of seafood they can buy from Japan.

Furthermore, the UUUO importer service provides real-time information on domestic production areas. This gives buyers access to a broader range of fish species, farmed fish, and processed products.

The UUUO importer service is expected to open up new business opportunities for fish farmers and exporters and increase the availability of fresh, high-quality Japanese seafood to consumers worldwide.

According to Nikkei Asia, the startup's goal is to open up sales channels to markets outside of Southeast Asia, such as the United States and Canada, where there is already a demand for the service. Uuuo aims to target 1 tonne in monthly orders for its cross-border business.

Uuuo is planning to carve out a portion of the highly lucrative fish and seafood market. According to the info supplied by Statista, the revenue generated by the fish and seafood market is anticipated to amount to $21.15 billion this year.

More About the Fish Delivery App

The UUUO app includes detailed information about each fish and its origin, allowing customers to follow the fish from the sea to their plates. The app's transparency and focus on sustainability have struck a chord with Japanese consumers, who are increasingly concerned about the environmental impact of their food choices.

Uuuo's mission is "To Create a New Distribution for the Japanese Fishery Industry." To achieve this, the company offers two digital solutions. The "UUUO" marketplace allows buyers in retail stores to purchase fresh seafood directly from local fish ports.

Meanwhile, its "Maehama Cloud" is an information platform that compiles catches and market prices from local fish markets nationwide.

With an efficient set distribution, these services assist in making the business operation more efficient and optimally balancing supply and demand in this sector.

Uuuo seeks to develop a sustainable fishing industry through the power of technology to preserve this priceless resource for future generations.

A part of Uuuo's efforts to develop a more effective and sustainable global fishery industry is its expansion into Southeast Asia.

Businesses in Thailand and Cambodia can now access a wider variety of fresh seafood from Japan thanks to the Uuuo Importer app, and importers in other parts of the world can anticipate the same in the future.
