Capcom announced on Tuesday that the latest title from the Resident Evil franchise will be a multiplayer third-person shooter, which will be released for PlayStation 4 and PC next year.

Titled Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps, the online video game will feature intense matches in battle zones that are themed after historic Resident Evil environments. The matches will be short — aimed for quick yet engaging gameplay.

One of these multiplayer battle modes, "One Life Match," gives gamers the mission to take down their opposing team, while also battling enemies (like zombies) seen in previous Resident Evil games. The player is only given one life during these rounds, but they will be able to use the enemies against the opposing team as a form of strategic gameplay.

As a third-person shooter game, players will be equipped with a gun and other weapons and gear. There is also a new analog aim and cover system that will give the gamers more precise control when they are stopping for cover.

Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps also has new specialized gear including the Brainer (an axe that takes out enemies with a blow to the skull), a Tactical Shield (an arm-mounted guard that lets the player use a zombie as a cover held), Terrain Spikes (boots that can be used to trample their enemies) and the Zombie Jammer (a device that repels zombies).

While Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps will feature multiple battle modes, it is still based around the same world of Umbrella Corporation, the pharmaceutical company known for its genetic experiments and biological weaponry that had led to the Raccoon City incident. Though the organization was taken down, there are still special forces who battle in restricted areas against others for experimental purposes.

Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps will be released for PS4 and PC in early 2016.
